Thappana is a 2012 film by Johny Antony and starring Mammootty, Murali Gopy and Charmy Kaur. The pooja of the film was on the 5th of March 2012. Kochi is the main location of the film
Thappana tells the story of an innocent person named Monai who likes help others. He fights for justice all the time and gets involved in other people's problems. But his fights always get himself into the trouble and land him in the prison. Having been into many jails a number of times he befriends with many policemen. By the way, Monai is an artist and has been recognised as the best artist of the prison three times.

As he gets along, Monai happens to meet his former crush Mallika after his release from the prison. They were lovers in teenages. Monai gets to know that Mallika too got released from the jail. Although he takes up the responsibility to drop her home, she stays away from him as possible as she can. The following happenings unfold the rest of the story. Mammooty plays Monai and Charmi portrays the role of Mallika. The cast also includes Murali Gopi, Lakshmi Priya, Vijaya Kumari with others.
